Baby Jackfruit Baby Guava
First-time director Nông Nhật Quang turns the camera on his own family in this personal and profoundly moving documentary. Growing up while navigating life in the closet, his sister Mai was his constant support. Now living openly and happily as a gay man in the city, Quang's world shifts when Mai receives a life changing diagnosis. As she prepares for the arrival of her baby, Guava, their conservative mother Cúc struggles to come to terms with it all. Blending raw, present-day moments with photos and diary fragments from the past, the film is a tender, clear eyed portrait of a family confronting their history together, searching for understanding, healing and a way forward. Visions du Réel 2026 Special Jury Award.
