The city and state of São Paulo somehow became Brazil’s main economic machine in the 20th century, the source of the country’s industrialisation, a magnet for people from all over the country to come and find work.

This taut chronicle of life in the mid‑1960s in the Brazilian megalopolis is a work of fiction with great performances by Walmor Chagas, Eva Wilma and Darlene Glória. It is also a terrific document of a country reshaped by industry. 4K restoration.
