Praised by Bong Joon-ho, this acutely observed, critically acclaimed Korean festival and theatrical hit follows a teen girl whose bright exterior hides a difficult past.

The third feature from Yoon Ga-eun, described by Bong Joon-ho as one of the three masters of directing child actors alongside Abbas Kiarostami and Hirokazu Kore-eda, The World of Love is a film of complex light and shadow. Lee Jooin (Seo Su-bin) is an exuberant high-schooler, who enjoys gossiping, taekwondo and community volunteering. When a classmate starts a petition regarding a child sex offender’s prison release, it resurfaces painful memories for Jooin. Waves of anger and hurt begin to permeate her life and relationships. One of the top Korean films of 2025, selected for Toronto and BFI London, The World of Love achieves a remarkable balance of humour and pathos in its delicate handling of a traumatic subject.

Simply a masterpiece.
Bong Joon-ho
