Kleber Mendonça Filho is an acclaimed Brazilian director who moved from film criticism to global success with his debut Neighboring Sounds. His films Aquarius and Bacurau explore Brazil's political tensions through a genre lens, with the former winning the Sydney Film Prize in 2016. His 2025 thriller, The Secret Agent, won Best Director and Best Actor at Cannes and earned multiple Academy Award nominations.
